FSSAI Invites online applications for 9th FSSAI Food Analyst Exam 2023 and 6th Junior Food Analyst Examination 2023.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has recently announced the 9th FSSAI Food Analyst Exam 2023 and the 6th Junior Food Analyst Examination 2023. These exams hold significant importance as they play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of food products. Food analysts, through their expertise in analyzing food samples in laboratories, are responsible for identifying contaminants, developing testing methods, and providing technical support to food manufacturers and retailers.

The Computer Based Test (CBT) for both exams is scheduled to take place on 3rd September 2023 (Sunday). The Practical Examination for the 9th FAE will commence in the second week of November 2023. Interested candidates should carefully review the following important information

Fssai Food Analyst Eligibility Criteria

a. Junior Food Analyst:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in disciplines such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Dairy Chemistry, Agriculture Science, Animal Science, Fisheries Science, Biotechnology, Food Safety, Food Technology, Food and Nutrition, Dairy Technology, Oil Technology, or Veterinary Sciences from a university established in India by law.
  • Alternatively, candidates can be an associate of the Institution of Chemists (India) through the section of Food Analysts examination.

b. Food Analyst:

  • Same educational qualifications as mentioned for Junior Food Analyst.
  • Minimum of three years experience in food analysis.
  • Experience should be acquired in an ISO:17025 accredited food testing laboratory, research institution, or research laboratory.

Fssai Food Analyst Exam Dates

Computer-Based Test (CBT):

      • Starting date for receiving online applications: 3rd July 2023
      • Closing date for receiving online applications: 23rd July 2023
      • Closing date for receiving exam fee: 31st July 2023
      • Date of issue of Admit Card (downloadable): 14th August 2023
      • Date of CBT: 3rd September 2023
      • Announcement of CBT results: 15th September 2023

Practical Exam for Food Analysts:

        • Starting date for online applications and issuance of Admit Cards: 4th October 2023
        • Closing date for online applications and issuance of Admit Cards: 14th October 2023
        • Date of Practical Examination: Commencing from the second week of November 2023
        • Issuance of FAE-2023 Certificates: Last week of January 2024

Exam Details

          • The CBT will consist of multiple-choice questions.
          • Each correct answer carries four marks, while one mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
          • To qualify for the CBT, FAE/JAE candidates must secure a minimum of 40% marks.
          • Successful candidates in the CBT will be eligible to appear for the Practical Examination.

    • The syllabus for the CBT includes a comprehensive range of topics such as food laws and standards, organization of food analysis laboratories, food preservation, and processing, human nutrition basics, food chemistry, and more. Interested individuals can register for the exams by filling out the online application form and paying the non-refundable application fee. The application fee is Rs.1500/– for Junior Food Analyst and Rs.2000/– for Food Analyst.

It is important to note that these exams are not for employment purposes, and there is no reservation policy in place. The Practical Examination for Junior Analysts is available only after acquiring three years of mandatory experience.

Specific Instructions for the candidates appearing for the 6th Junior Analyst Examination 2023

Candidates applying for JAE should fulfill the eligibility criteria of Junior Analyst as given below:

  • Educational Qualification will be the same as that of the Food Analyst as of the closing date of the application, as prescribed in the Advertisement published for 6th JAE, 2023 i.e 23rd July 2023
  • Experience: No experience is required

Specific Instructions for the Candidates appearing for the 9th Food Analyst Examination 2023:

  • Candidates applying for Food Analyst should fulfill the eligibility criteria of Food Analyst as prescribed in the notification issued by FSSAI for 9th FAE 2023.
  • Candidates appearing for 9th FAE 2023 should have a minimum of three years experience in the analysis of food in any ISO:17025accredited food testing laboratory/research institution/ research laboratory
  • Experience certificates should be submitted in the prescribed format only.
  • Experience of the candidate will be calculated from the date of graduation or the minimum eligible academic qualification as achieved by the candidate, till the closing date of application for the 9th Food Analysts Examination (FAE), 2023 i.e 23rd July 2023
  • The experience gained by the candidates before qualifying for the minimum academic qualification as prescribed for the FAE and after the closing date of application will not be taken into consideration.
  • Experience gained by the candidate during academic programs such as Post Graduate, Doctoral Programme/SRF/JRF, etc will not be considered.
  • Pre-qualified Junior Analysts after gaining requisite experience (3 years of experience in food analysis) can appear directly for the Practical Examination for one time.

Note

The candidates who have passed ISt or 2nd or 3rd or 4t’ or 50′ Junior Analyst Examination and have now acquired three years of experience in the analysis of food and further fulfill the eligibility criteria as per Rule 2.1.4 of FSS Rules, 2011 are not required to apply through this online application. A separate notice as well as an application form will be uploaded on the website of FSSAI in the ISt week of July 2023.
