Exciting news! FSSAI is opening its doors to interns for the July 2023 session under the Internship Scheme 2021. This is your chance to contribute to the nation’s food safety and standards while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Pursuing Post Graduate Degree/B.Tech/BE in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Technology, Food Science & Technology, Food & Nutrition, Edible Oil Technology, Microbiology, Dairy Technology, Agricultural or Horticultural Sciences, Industrial Microbiology, Toxicology, Public Health, Life Science, Biotechnology, Fruit & Vegetable Technology, or Food Safety & Quality Assurance.
  2. Business Administration & Management (only at FSSAI HQ).
  3. PG Diploma/Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, and Public Relations.
  4. B.E. / B. Tech (3rd and 4th Year students only) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related streams.
  5. Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in Public Policy/Public Administration (only for FSSAI HQ).
  6. Bachelor/Master of Law (only for FSSAI HQ).

Application Process

(a) Interested students can apply online in the specified format within the provided timeline.

(b) Shortlisted candidates may be required to submit a short write-up or presentation for final selection.

(c) The final list of selected candidates, joining dates, and internship tenure will be declared online on the FSSAI website.


  • Application Start Date: 13th June 2023
  • Application Deadline: 19th June 2023
  • Announcement of Shortlisted Candidates: 23rd June 2023
  • Date of Joining: 3rd July 2023

(d) At the time of joining, interns must carry a letter from their institute indicating their student status and a “No Objection Certificate” for the internship period. (e) Requests for an extension of joining time exceeding one week will not be accepted.

Interns will be assigned to divisions based on their academic and technical training. They will work on projects related to various aspects of Food and Nutrition Management Processes.


Deserving interns, recommended by their respective offices/divisions, will receive a stipend of Rs. 10,000/- for the internship period. The evaluation criteria include attendance, assessment by reporting officers, and evaluation of the final report by the Committee.


Upon successful completion of the internship, interns will receive.


  • Students who have already completed the mentioned courses are not eligible to apply.
  • Multiple applications will not be entertained.
  • Ensure that the internship place you choose aligns with your subject/topic preference.

Tenure: The internship will be available throughout the year on a quarterly basis, with a duration of up to 3 months (extendable to 6 months). Please note that internships less than 2 months will not be offered.
