FSSAI Set Deadline for FBO’s to Use Pre-Printed Packaging Materials

The FSSAI has given food businesses a final deadline to use pre-printed packaging materials. They must stop using these materials by December 31, 2023. Food Business Operators (FBOs) had asked for more time to use non-compliant pre-printed packaging materials.

Big news for all the food businesses out there! The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has just announced a final deadline that affects how food is packaged. They say that by December 31, 2023, every food business must stop using certain types of packaging materials and switch to new ones. The FSSAI has given food businesses a final deadline to use pre-printed packaging materials. They must stop using these materials by December 31, 2023. Food Business Operators (FBOs) had asked for more time to use non-compliant pre-printed packaging materials.

More Time to Switch

At first, many food businesses said they needed more time to make this change. And guess what? The FSSAI listened! They agreed to give these businesses extra time – until the end of this year – to start using the new packaging materials. That’s pretty cool, right?

Changing the Money Stuff

Now, let’s talk money. If a food business wants to use these new packaging materials, they have to pay a fee. However, the FSSAI has changed how much that fee is. If a business has a big license that covers the whole country, they need to pay Rs 30,000 plus GST. But if their license only covers one state, then it’s Rs 12,000 plus GST. And you know what? They have a website where you can pay this fee easily.

When Things Change

Imagine a food business changing its address, name, or license number. In those cases, if they want to use the new packaging, they need to follow the rules that came out on November 23, 2016. And the fee they need to pay will be based on the rules from November 14, 2017. It’s like following a recipe but for packaging!

How It Was Before

Before this new rule, businesses could use the old packaging for six months after they paid Rs 6,000. This info came from the FSSAI. But things have changed now. They want all businesses to use the new packaging that fits their rules.

So, there you have it! The FSSAI is making sure that the way our food is packaged follows their new plan. They’re giving businesses some extra time, changing the fees, and asking everyone to follow the new rules. This will help make sure the food we eat is safe and good for us. Time to say bye-bye to the old wrappers and hello to the new ones!
