FSSAI’s New Rules | QR Codes on Food Labels

To make things even better, FSSAI is suggesting that food companies use QR codes on their labels. These QR codes are like special codes you can scan with your phone, and they give you lots of details about the product.

FSSAI, which stands for the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, is all about making sure everyone can get safe and healthy food, including people who can’t see well. In 2020, they made some rules for food labels to help everyone understand what’s in the food they’re buying. These rules say that food labels must have important information like the name of the product, how long it’s good to eat, and what’s inside it, like the nutrition facts.

This is great for all of us, especially those who might need a little extra help when reading labels. It’s important to know what’s in your food to make good choices.

In 2016, a law called the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act was passed. It says that everyone has the right to information that they can easily access. This means that information should be available to everyone, no matter what challenges they might have.

To make things even better, FSSAI is suggesting that food companies use QR codes on their labels. These QR codes are like special codes you can scan with your phone, and they give you lots of details about the product. This helps people get even more information about the food they’re buying, which is fantastic!

But remember, these QR codes don’t replace the important stuff that has to be on the label by law. They just add more helpful information. So, FSSAI and food companies are working together to make sure everyone can easily know what’s in their food.

Let’s share this news on LinkedIn and show our support for FSSAI’s efforts to make food accessible and easy to understand for all.
